8/31/2012

Ok, I am writing this a couple of days late but that's fine. I woke up, ate breakfast, and then went with my driver and maid (both of whom do not speak much English) to Immigration. This is my third trip to Immigration since I arrived in Indonesia. Nothing was wrong with my paperwork but, their system is very slow and requires several visits. This time I finally got my Passport back and I was also given a "Kitas" which is a long-term visa for Indonesia. I cannot describe to you the since of relief when I had my Passport back in my hand. And now I am officially allowed to stay here for a year, so that's good news! After we drove to a traditional market to buy my school uniform. I went in with my maid who bought the clothes for me. I have a gray pleated skirt with a white short-sleeved shirt. Almost all Indonesian schools have a similar uniform so I will truly fit in at my school. After buying the clothes we went to the money changer where my 200 US dollars turned into almost 2 million Indonesian Rupiah. I am now a millionaire.... ya!!!! I came home finally and studied for my Indonesian lesson. It started raining, which means that I guess rainy season is almost here but the rain did not last very long. At four I went to my lesson with Mrs. Anita. I learned a lot of things including pronunciation and a little grammar. I am learning so much, I think I almost know more Indonesian than Chinese (which I took for three and a half years). When my lesson was done I went with the driver to go pick up Diandra at her school. We got stuck in traffic, there is always traffic in Indonesia and when we got to the school Diandra still had to do something so we waited for her. After such a busy day I was too tired to write in my blog. So I just watched a movie and went to bed.

I was really glad that I got so much done. It was a productive day and I had fun riding all around the city.

  1. Are you at a private school or a public school? Do you always have a escort with you for your safety, tradition, or just so you don't get lost? If you are so rich, will you be sending money home any time soon? lol. Another question, so how much did you uniform cost? If $200, turned into almost 2million, what do they charge for a piece of bread, fruit (from the market), dinner out? love you, mom
